Instructors in different academic fields expect different kinds of arguments and evidence—your chemistry paper might include graphs, charts, statistics, and other quantitative data as evidence, whereas your English paper might include passages from a novel, examples of recurring symbols, or discussions of characterization in the novel.
Is this relevant? Often times, the original speaker uses words that are witty, edgy, or distinctive. Which ones are especially contestable?
For writing in other fields, more informal experiments might be acceptable as evidence. It is presented to persuade readers, and used with powerful arguments in the texts or essays.
Lastly, use another color to highlight analysis of your evidence. Representative examples are those that are typical, or most like the majority of other items in the same group.
